Egg, bird, feather: these symbols have repeatedly appeared in my life. The paper hens, the turtledoves, the dandelions, the bird-shaped wind-bell, the kite stuck on a tree, the arrows and targets, the egg-shaped tumors... This project is a story I told about myself, trying to understand what happened to me and around me. With subtle colored pencil strokes, I intend to depict a surreal world where everything looks palpable while eventually untouchable, like a dream. Meanwhile, the high contrast of black and white ink lines plays as a parallel world, signaling the wax and wane of the life force which hibernates but never dies down.
This is also a story about loss and growing up. Egg, bird, and feather, as a metaphor for the vectorial nature of life, impassively displays the duality of the life force. Even though just as page six has proposed multiple arrangements and interpretations of "egg, bird, feather," I want to send the message that there is no single narration of one's life. This is also the reason why this project is born: to curiously look at the past, which allows us to see the endless possibilities of our future.
